Kindle

Rebecca, do you like your kindle? Is it that much better than a print book? I'm just trying to figure out if it is worth getting one. Thanks for your input!

1000 White Women

I am enjoying the book immensely! I'm sort of thinking that we may end discussing the historical events surrounding the book rather than the text itself. It's a good story. May Dodd has a strong & straightforward voice. I get almost angry when she and the others consistently refer to the Cheyenne as savages. She has begun to process the discrepancies in her "civilized" world, but I wonder if it will occur to her to stop calling any culture that non-European uncivilized and savage.

It's official - I am hooked on 1000 white women - the book goes with me everywhere right now-earthy, lusty...a fun read that takes you away!

Okay so this crazy old lady school counselor is doing her first blog...ever!! Just in time too because I have been asked to be a guest blogger for UWL!
I hope you are enjoying the book as much as I am.

Experimenting

Just trying this out to see if I am "posting" correctly. I feel pretty lame when it's 2010 and I'm just figuring this out.:(

Thoughts from Eat, Pray, Love

Liz describes her sister and herself as opposites, her sister a sort of loner and herself as an extraverted and friendly person. She says that they've both not ended up where others have had thought, but in the end, their places in life make sense: Her sister, not expected to have settled into marriage and having a family, actually needs a family to keep her intravertedness from consuming her. Liz, on the other hand, feels that she doesn't need to be married to avoid loneliness, because her gregarious nature will prevent that happening. I can see that in myself...looking back, I appreciate the time I lived alone, but find that my identity is in my family. I need to be alone at times, but my family prevents this from happening too much.

Inspired by Eat, Pray, Love

Just a thought: What would your letter to God look like, and what would you need God's response to be?

Hello Everybody!

Just wondering if anyone has started Eat, Love, Pray and would be interested in sharing their thoughts so far.
